Judges not by sight and does not reprove by the hearing.
1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but
the Lord looketh on the heart.”

Makes melody in his heart to the Lord. Gives thanks to God. Serves others in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:18-21 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to
yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving
thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves
one to another in the fear of God.”

Confirms that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God

Matthew 16:16-17 “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered
and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is
in heaven.”

Lives soberly, righteously, and godly. Judges himself by the word of God and finds perfect harmony in it.
The Great Controversy, p. 396
“The spirit that does not cause us to live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world, is not the Spirit of
Christ.
The Spirit and word agree. If a man judges himself by the word of God, and finds a perfect harmony through the
whole word, then he must believe he has the truth; but if he finds the spirit by which he is led does not harmonize
with the whole tenor of God's law or Book, then let him walk carefully, lest he be caught in the snare of the devil.”
